Mrs Kapoor’s Daughter’s Wedding was hailed as one of the standout British Asian theatre productions of recent years, celebrated by audiences and critics alike. The show became a phenomenal success, touring extensively across the UK with 53 performances, over 50 sell-out shows, and more than 57,000 audience members. With roaring reviews, standing ovations and word-of-mouth buzz, it quickly became the must-see show everyone was talking about.
Audiences were warmly welcomed into the chaos of a big fat Asian wedding as Mrs Kapoor cordially invited everyone to her daughter’s big day. As the proud (and overly enthusiastic) mother of five daughters, Mrs Kapoor takes the audience on a vibrant, kaleidoscopic journey through the build-up to the wedding, delivered in true Bollywood style. Packed with laugh-out-loud comedy, high-energy Bollywood dance routines, live singing and comedic sketches, the show offered a joyful, family-friendly theatrical experience from start to finish.
Starring YouTuber Parle Patel as the unforgettable Mrs Kapoor, alongside Radio DJ and influencer Gillie, West End singer Shahid Abbas Khan, the electrifying AK Bollywood Dancers and powerful Rhythm ‘n’ Bass dhol players, the production was a dazzling celebration of British Asian culture. Written, directed and produced by Archana Kumar, with choreography by Archana Kumar, Anjali Janani and Rupal Thakrar, the show set the benchmark for large-scale British Asian touring theatre.


Mrs Kapoor’s Daughter’s Wedding – Rebooted was created as a bold and timely reimagining of the original MKDW story, developed in response to the shared experiences of the COVID era. While it followed the familiar and much-loved storyline of the first show, it introduced a host of new scenes and situations inspired by life during lockdown, making it instantly relatable and hilariously current.
Born out of the pandemic, MKDW Rebooted captured the chaos of a lockdown wedding like no other show before it — from guest limits of just 30 people, to Zoom calls, social distancing dilemmas and the madness of planning a wedding under ever-changing rules. The result was a laugh-out-loud comedy packed with sharp observations, heartfelt moments and signature Mrs Kapoor humour.
This production became one of the first theatre shows many within the South Asian community attended after lockdown, marking a joyful return to live performance. Every show sold out and was met with fantastic reviews, standing ovations, feel-good blockbuster that brought audiences back together through laughter, shared experience and community spirit.

Mrs Kapoor’s Daughter’s Wedding 2 Mauritius took audiences on a sun-soaked, laugh-out-loud journey as Mrs Kapoor planned her daughter’s extravagant destination wedding. This immersive theatrical experience transformed theatres into a full holiday adventure, inviting audiences to fasten their seatbelts and escape to Mauritius alongside the ever-chaotic Kapoor family. From airport drama to holiday restrictions pushed to their limits, the show delivered non-stop comedy with trademark Mrs Kapoor madness.
Overflowing with high-energy dance routines, live singing, dhol beats and sharp comedy, the production entertained audiences of all ages. It was a fully immersive experience from the moment tickets were booked, with audiences choosing whether they were attending from the bride’s side or the groom’s side, dressing in themed colours, and being greeted by “air hostesses” on arrival. The result was a joyous, interactive celebration that blurred the line between stage and audience, making every performance feel like a real wedding abroad.
Following the huge success of the original Mrs Kapoor’s Daughter’s Wedding and its reboot, and with more than 82,000 audience members across the franchise, MKDW 2: Mauritius proved to be another standout hit. Produced by AK Productions, the show became a fun, family-friendly, and highly relatable British Asian theatre experience, performed predominantly in English with Gujarati jokes, and remembered as one of the most vibrant and entertaining destination-wedding productions to tour the UK.

On 16th July 2024, history was made as Mrs Kapoor's Daughter's Wedding 2 Mauritius became the first-ever South Asian Gujarati theatre show to in the West End, London. MKDW 2 graced the world-famous Adelphi Theatre in London’s West End. Situated on the iconic Strand and owned by theatre legend Andrew Lloyd Webber, the venue was transformed into a celebration of British Asian culture like never before. With over 40 cast and crew members working tirelessly to bring the magic to life, MKDW 2 delivered a West End-standard production that radiated energy, humour, and heart. The evening was a complete sell-out, drawing a full house of excited theatre-goers ready to witness a cultural milestone.
From the moment guests arrived, the Adelphi buzzed with an electric atmosphere. The beats of the dhol echoed down the Strand, while each audience member was ceremonially welcomed with a traditional garland, instantly transporting them into the vibrant spirit of an Indian wedding. Laughter filled the theatre from start to finish, with the show’s trademark blend of comedy, music, and drama earning standing ovations from an audience spanning all ages and backgrounds. The night attracted celebrities, media personalities, and influential community leaders, making it as much a red-carpet event as it was a theatrical triumph.
